Lake Facts

Surface Area:
Walter F. George - 46,000 acres
George W. Andrews - 801 acres
These two Chattahoochee River lakes offer a host of recreational and sporting opportunities to the millions of people who visit each year.  Although these lakes were built to provide navigation and hydroelectric power, the emphasis is on family fun.

Camping, fishing, hunting and boating are the most popular activities at the lakes, but many folks come just to spend the day swimming, picnicking, sunning or playing ball along the shore. Visitors to the area may also want to tour some of the historic homes in nearby towns, or visit nearby state parks such as Kolomoki State Park, which contains the largest Indian mound east of the Mississippi River
