Special Events Permit at Allatoona Lake

Special Event Permit

Defined:

Special Events are defined as organized use of project resources for a specific purpose and limited duration, beyond the normal day-to-day use normally engaged in by individuals or groups.  Generally these events are more involved than an activity and will impact the use of project lands and waters by the general public. Further, they may grant special privileges to a person or group beyond those afforded to the general public.  They may also further require oversight or monitoring by US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) personnel for safety and regulatory purposes.

Determining Factors:  (These are items which may help the project determine the extent of a Special Event.)

  1. The event will impact the project beyond normal use.

  2. The event has a specific purpose (i.e. competitions, large scale fishing tournaments, fireworks displays, etc…)

  3. The event may generate revenue other than standard commercial concessions (ie marinas)

  4. The event may restrict the use and enjoyment of project resources by the general public, may cause liability to persons and government property, and may require larger planning for safety and risk management.

  5. It is of shorter duration and would not be practical for a lease or other agreement.

  6. The event incorporates elements that may not otherwise be allowed by the regulations in Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 327; thus requiring Allatoona Lake Project Manager’s approval.

  7. Any part of the event is located outside of a licensed/leased area (ie marina, city park, lease facility) or any part of it takes place on the waters of Allatoona Lake.

Examples of Special Events:

  1. Fireworks display of any kind

  2. Shoreline or waterborne concert

  3. Triathlon

  4. Trail runs

  5. Launching / retrieving vessels by commercial carrier

  6. Fishing tournaments with >50 boats
