The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD), Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD), Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (OSAP) is posting this notice to allow for public comment on the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Block Grant Federal Fiscal Year 2016 Synar Component Final Report. The report is substantially complete, but the public should be aware that the report is currently in draft form. A final State version will not be available until the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has approved the final draft. New Mexico Human Services Department Cabinet Secretary Brent Earnest announced today that New Mexico improved fourteen spots, from 36 to 22, in Mental Health America’s annual rankings, “The State of Mental Health in America 2017.” The state’s vastly improved overall rank shows a lower prevalence of mental illness and higher rates of access to mental health care in New Mexico. 

The Human Services Department invites you to participate in a public forum and provide meaningful comments about Medicaid’s Centennial Care program.  The Department looks forward to receiving the public’s feedback about Centennial Care, nearing the end of its third year.  Per its agreement with the federal government, the State may hold the public forum as part of its Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) meeting.  The forum will take place at the next MAC meeting on Monday, November 14th, from 1-4 p.m. at the Garrey Carruthers State Library in Santa Fe (1209 Camino Carlos Rey, Santa Fe, NM 87505).  Providers, members, advocacy groups and other parties interested in discussing the Centennial Care program are welcome to attend.  We look forward to your participation.
