All U.S. and Oklahoma flags are at half-staff until 5 p.m. today to honor Pearl Harbor survivor and U.S. Marine Al Collins, who passed away on November 17, 2016.
As part of the Base Guard Battalion at Pearl Harbor, he was at his guard post when the attack began. He also fought at Guadalcanal. His service to our great nation will never be forgotten.
I took a tour of the capitol this afternoon to check out all the great progress being made! Be sure to like Oklahoma Capitol Restoration for updates!

Enjoyed giving the welcome tonight at the Sixth Annual NextGen under 30 awards at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. A terrific evening with tremendous speakers – former OU head coach Barry Switzer, former Congressman J.C. Watts, Express Employment Personnel CEO and Chairman Bob Funk Sr. and Higher Education Chancellor Glen Johnson. A very impressive group of honorees were recognized, including one I’m especially proud of, my son, Price. Congratulations to all who were recognized as the next generation of innovative, creative and inspiring individuals.
Talking with Mike Turpen and Ree Drummond about the six people inducted tonight into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Being inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame is the highest honor an Oklahoman can receive from the state. Mike did a great job emceeing the event with Burns Hargis. Ree presented Rebecca Dixon. Others inductees are retired Maj. Gen. Rita Aragon, who served on my Cabinet as secretary of veteran affairs, Michael Burrage, Dan Dillingham, Kelli O'Hara and Russell Westbrook.
Congratulations to the newly elected and returning legislators of the 56th Legislature on taking their oaths of office today.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Michael Winchester. Thank you Oklahoma City Police Department, Will Rogers World Airport, and Southwest Airlines for keeping passengers safe yesterday.
Read my column on how children in state custody need foster families to love and support them during their time of need. Can you help?
Passage of State Question 780 is a great step in changing how Oklahoma understands and treats drug addiction.
