U.S. EUCOM Assists in Flood Relief Efforts
As part of the U.S. Embassy's continuing efforts to aid victims of the recent catastrophic floods, two additional truckloads of humanitarian relief supplies arrived in Moldova.

As part of the U.S. Embassy's continuing efforts to aid victims of the recent catastrophic floods, two additional truckloads of humanitarian relief supplies arrived in Moldova.  The U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation, at the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau coordinated the shipment of these two truckloads of supplies in support of the Moldovan Government's flood relief efforts. This shipment, which is part of the U.S. Department of Defense's Humanitarian Assistance Excess Property Program, included rubber boots, inflatable rafts, cots, furniture items, portable toilets, blankets and bed linens, and assorted medical consumables. The shipment is valued at $132,872 and originated from the U.S. EUCOM Excess Property warehouse in Livorno, Italy.  In addition, the U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation donated ten motorized water pumps worth $10,000.
 
This equipment will be donated to the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova to enhance the capability of their response teams and to assist their efforts in the flood-affected areas. These projects are in direct response to the Government of Moldova's request for assistance from other countries and international organizations to help with flood relief efforts.
