Latvian Lt. Col. Normunds Baranovs (standing, left) explains to secondary school students at a school in the rural area of Galbenes, Latvia, the U.S.-Latvian relationship for Operation Atlantic Resolve during a community outreach November 12, 2014. During the outreach, the soldiers got to interact with the high-school age students and answer and ask questions to get to know each other. Students were also able to try on U.S. soldier equipment and pose for photographs with the service members. These activities are part of the U.S. Army Europe-led Operation Atlantic Resolve land force assurance training exercise taking place across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to enhance multinational interoperability, strengthen relationships among allied militaries, contribute to regional stability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
