Thank you for your interest in the Exemplary Human Environment Initiatives (EHEIs). Since 2007, the EHEIs have recognized transportation initiatives that make our transportation system work better for the people who use it. Alongside the Exemplary Ecosystem Initiatives (EEIs), the EHEIs and EEIs further demonstrated that environmental achievements do not have to be divided between natural and human initiatives.
The Federal Highway Administration is currently integrating the EHEIs and EEIs into its Environmental Excellence Awards (EEAs), a biennial awards program that recognizes partners, projects, and processes committed to multi-faceted transportation solutions.
