U.S. Marine tanks, artillery, and light-armored reconnaissance vehicles have arrived in Bulgaria to support NATO allies and international partner countries. The heavy equipment, assigned to the Combined Arms Company, Black Sea Rotational Force, arrived in Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria, Aug. 25, 2015. The tanks, artillery, and light armored reconnaissance vehicles were loaded on trains and moved across Europe demonstrating our allies’ and international partners’ ability to move heavy equipment across the region to support operations during a crisis. The equipment will allow the Marines to participate in mechanized regional multinational exercises in Eastern Europe.

The Chief of General Staff of Macedonia, Gorancho Koteski, observed a training event with the U.S. Marines of the Black Sea Rotational Force and the Military Police Battalion of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia on July 19 in Skopje. The event highlighted U.S. support for the Macedonian army's non-lethal weapons program as they build their capacity for potential peacekeeping operations. A sustained, rotational opportunity for combined training in the region significantly increases the level of cooperation between our militaries.

Sailors and Marines delivered donated Project Handclasp supplies to orphanages and hospitals in the Constanta and Tulcea regions, June 8, during a community relations project.

U.S. Marines and soldiers with Black Sea Rotational Force 11 travelled to Buzau, Romania, to provide the Romanian army a familiarization course to display the capabilities of the Raven-B, unmanned aerial vehicle.

With AK-47 assault rifles locked-and-loaded, a line of Macedonian troops stand in front of their targets at a combat marksmanship range on BTA. On the command to shoot, dust from the ground erupts from behind their targets and fills the air from their Kalashnikovs’ rounds engaging their “enemies.”

Reserve Marines attached to the Ground Combat Element, Black Sea Rotational Force-11, got the unique opportunity to train in Visit, Board, Search and Seizure techniques from Marine instructors attached to Marine Corps Security Forces Regiment, Norfolk, Va., and work alongside U.S. Coast Guardsmen aboard U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sea Otter, San Diego, Calif. The week-long, condensed course concluded March 26.

Well guarded within 671,000 sq. feet of six climate-controlled caves, $420 million worth of Marine Corps equipment and supplies lie ready for real world use. The caves, located in Norway, serve as a key strategic storage site for the Marine Corps.
