STEREO/SECCHI DiscoveriesThe objects listed below represent all objects discovered in images from the SECCHI instruments on the NASA STEREO mission satellites. Please note that all objects listed here are only considered as tentatively 'confirmed' until given an official orbit determination and designation by the Minor Planet Center. For a list of all comets observed by SECCHI, please refer to Rainer Kracht's SECCHI observations list.
About this table: This table summarizes comets discovered and confirmed in STEREO/SECCHI satellite
data. The Perihelion Date column represents the date at which the object reached its
perihelion (closest approach to the Sun). The Comet Designation column represents the
unofficial SECCHI designation and also the official IAU designation. The Comet Discoverer
column lists the person or persons who first reported the object. The Telescope column lists
the STEREO/SECCHI instruments in which the object was discovered and/or observed. The Perihelion
Distance column lists the object's closest approach to the Sun in units of AU (Astronomical
Units). Additionally, the values are linked to the MPEC (Minor Planet Electronic Circular) that
defines the official orbit for the object. The Comet Group column denotes the group membership
of the comet, if any.
