Rotational Excellence Program

ATTENTION: Submission Cycle for REP Applicants

Open submission will run from June 15, 2016 through June 30, 2016. This will be for anticipated start date beginning end of July or later. All applicants must be government civilian and possess an active security clearance.

Background

The DoD Office of Small Business Programs (DoD OSBP) Rotational Excellence Program (REP) provides a dynamic developmental opportunity for leadership minded individuals in small business and acquisition related career fields.

The REP initiative offers the opportunity to compete for short-term rotational assignments supporting the various programs and outreach events that fall under the purview of DoD OSBP.

Objective

The REP provides challenging work assignments with the guidance of a mentor on Small Business Program areas such as subcontracting, workforce development, policy, mentor-protégé, outreach, SBIR/STTR, compliance and Indian Incentive Program. The targeted work assignments offer successful candidates an opportunity to gain a broader perspective of DoD OSBP, insight on Small Business's contributions to the defense industrial base, the workings of the legislative process, and enhanced communication skills.

Applying for the REP Program

To apply for acceptance into the REP, candidates must be a GS-11 or above and submit a completed application package along with a current resume. Applicants must already be DoD government civilian employees and possess an active security clearance.

Selection Process

After the closing of the announcement, the REP Program Manager will forward the application packages to the DoD Office of Small Business Programs review board. The review board will evaluate the applications and, if required, interview the applicants to determine who are best suited for the current opportunities and assignments.

Rotational opportunities are at the discretion of your home agency. You are required to go through agency-specific procedures before pursuing them. More specifically, it is your responsibility to initiate the approval process, if required by the agency, before making contacts or agreements to go on rotational opportunities. Specific assignments will be based on the candidate's previous work experience, current requirements within the DoD OSBP office and length of the rotational assignment.

Once the evaluations are completed, the review board will prioritize and forward their recommendations/nominations to the REP Program Manager. Then a nomination package will be forwarded to the Director of DoD OSBP for final approval.

Selected candidate(s) will be notified within 30 days after the closing date of announcement.

Future REP opportunities will be posted here on the DOD OSBP Web site.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be aware that OSBP funding is not available for a participant's salary and must be covered by the participant's organization. TDY and travel expenses will be funded by DoD OSBP for candidates outside of the DC Metro Area.
