Resource and Program Management

Overview

The Department of Transportation’s Chief Information Officer Resource Management Office (RMO) allocates resources to ensure a modern, results-driven workforce, a streamlined, effective budget planning process, and strategic partnerships with the leading IT professionals and firms. OCIO RMO works with offices throughout DOT to ensure effective management and reporting of the budget, human resources, and procurement activities. Areas of responsibility include:

  • Budget
    The OCIO allocates funding for IT policy, planning, and strategy in addition to IT infrastructure support services that include workstation support and services (desktop ,laptop and applicable peripherals),  software,  e-mail, server and storage management, network and infrastructure engineering and connectivity,  help desk support (Tier 1-3), voice, cable and wireless services to include personal digital assistants, mobile and telework solutions, and telephony services. 
  • Procurement
    The OCIO works with leaders in the IT field through various agile, scalable procurements.  The RMO is working to create a general vendor IT listing that can be leveraged by many DOT offices, to reduce implementation time and administrative requirements.
  • Human Resources
    The OCIO believes that an agile, reliable and scalable IT environment and business services across DOT starts with the best people in IT. The OCIO RMO is working within the new, streamlined federal hiring practices to bring the best professionals to the team.
