CG's Safety Statement

1ST MARINE LOGISTICS GROUP

Commanding General's

Safety Policy

Every Marine, Sailor and Civilian within 1st Marine Logistics Group is an integral part to our success and I truly care about your safety and welfare. Serious injuries or death are often tragically debilitating to our unit family, whether they occur in combat or in garrison. Such losses effect mission readiness and are devastating to unit morale and cohesion. Ensuring the safety and well-being of one another must remain a key component of our operational continuum both on and off duty.

To be effective, our safety program requires the unwavering support of all hands and proactive personal involvement at all levels; beginning with small unit leaders, and continued vigilance and risk acknowledgement by each and every member of our organization.

All aspects of logistics support involves some degree of risk; from convoys, engineer and utilities equipment operation, to medical and dental treatment, warehousing or maintenance support. Controlling and mitigating risk is critical to our ability to train and maintain our war fighting edge. Safety equates to providing focused attentive leadership, with a foundation built on common sense and sound judgment. The application of solid Operational Risk Management (ORM) principles prior to and throughout any activity has the potential to make a profound difference in the lives ofour people; however, it is merely one of the many ways to ensure the safety of our operations, in our work spaces, and our off-duty activities. I task each member of the 1st Marine Logistics Group to:

-Inculcate and integrate a safety mindset in everything we do, everywhere we train or operate.
-Create a culture of Risk Acknowledgement as individuals and within our units.
-Continuously improve individual and unit safety processes via conscious mitigation.
-Positively influence off-duty behavior through strong leadership, mentodng, and supervision.
-Hold each other accountable for actions or in-action in planning, inspecting, and execution.
-Foster cultural acceptance and motivation in support of preserving our force through actions.

1st MLG is a family and every Marine, Sailor and Civilian is needed. We must acknowledge risk is an inherent part of our daily lives and ensure that each of us consciously mitigates risk to appropriate levels in all undertakings. Remember, if one of our Warriors is injured, it is one less individual in the fight. I expect each of you to contribute fully to ensuring your personal and our collective safety both on and off duty.
