Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point

Sergeant Major Bauer graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1995 and entered the Marine Corps on 13 June 1995.  Bauer underwent recruit training at MCRD, San Diego, CA.  After completing recruit training, Bauer reported to Infantry Training Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA for MOS training as an O311 Rifleman.  After completing MOS school, PFC Bauer reported to Kilo Company 3D Battalion, 5th  Marines, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton California where he served in 1st  Platoon as rifleman and platoon radio operator.  In June of 1996, LCpl Bauer deployed with the 31st MEU to Okinawa for 6 months.  In June 1997, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal and moved to India Company 3D Battalion, 5th  Marines where he served as Fire Team Leader and then as Squad Leader. In June 1998, Corporal Bauer deployed again with the 31st MEU to Okinawa and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August 1998 and filled the billet of Platoon Sergeant. In November, Sergeant Bauer returned from Okinawa and competed in the Marine Corps Competitive Marksmanship Program, Western Division Matches.  In October 1999, Sgt Bauer reported to Marine Combat Training Battalion, School Of Infantry West where he was a weapons and tactics instructor for Golf Company.  In August 2000, Sgt Bauer attended Recruiters School and in October, reported to RS Jacksonville, FL; RSS Statesboro, GA; PCS Hinesville, GA for recruiting duty.  In November 2001, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  In December 2001, SSgt Bauer reported to 3D Battalion 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division where he served as the Battalion Assistant Operations Chief.  In June 2004, he deployed to Fallujah, Iraq for OIF 2-2 and participated in numerous operations to include Operation Phantom Fury.  He returned to CONUS in January 2005.  In May 2005, SSgt Bauer transferred to Lima Company, 3d Battalion 1st Marines and served as Platoon Sergeant for 1st Platoon and deployed to Haditha, Iraq for OIF 5-7 in September.  In October of that same year, SSgt Bauer was re-assigned to Weapons Platoon Lima Company where he served as Platoon Sergeant, Mobile Assault Platoon and then returned to Camp Pendleton in April 2006. In May 2006, SSgt Bauer was re-assigned to Kilo Company, 3d Battalion 1st Marines where he served as Weapons Platoon Sergeant and later on as Company Gunnery Sergeant. In January 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and then deployed once again to Iraq with the 13th MEU for OIF 6-8 from April to November of 2007.  In March 2008, GySgt Bauer reported to the Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, Camp Pendleton where he served as Faculty Advisor and Instructor at the Advanced Course.  In April 2010, 1stSgt Bauer was frocked to rank of 1stSgt and in June he reported to Detachment 3, Maintenance Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 453 where he served as the Inspector Instructor First Sergeant.  In August 2014, 1stSgt Bauer reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion where he served as Company 1stSgt for Bravo Company and Engineer Support Company. In February 2015, 1stSgt Bauer was frocked to the rank of SgtMaj and reported to Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Cherry Point where he is currently serving as Squadron SgtMaj.
