Master Gunnery Sergeant Charles E. Snyder Jr joined the Marine Corps in October of 1991 and graduated from MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina.

In January of 1992, MGySgt Snyder reported to Marine Combat Training on Camp Geiger, North Carolina.  Upon completion he was sent to his Military Occupational Specialty School in Camp Geiger, North Carolina where he earned the basic MOS of 0341, Mortar Man.

Upon graduation from school, MGySgt Snyder received orders to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he was assigned to Company L, 3^rd Battalion 2^nd Marines Division where he served as a 60mm mortar man.  In July of 1992 MGySgt Snyder received orders to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he was assigned to 2^nd Reconnaissance Battalion.  While at 2^nd Recon Bn  MGySgt Snyder served as radio operator through Team Leader in  C Co and deployed to Haiti for Operation Support Democracy.   During his tour he was promoted to Lance Corporal and Corporal.

In October 1997 MGySgt Snyder received orders to 2^nd Force Reconnaissance Company, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While at 2^nd Force Recon MGySgt Snyder served as point man, assistant team leader and Team Leader and deployed on 3 MEU’s and OIF deployment.  During his tour he was promoted to Sergeant and Staff Sergeant.

In December 2005 MGySgt Snyder received orders to Inspector/ Instructor staff at Company B, 4^th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4^th Marine Division in Atlanta, Georgia. Where he served as Platoon Sergeant and Operations Chief, during his tour he deployed to OIF and was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. 

In December 2008, MGySgt Snyder received orders to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he was assigned to 2^nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2^nd Marine Division.  MGySgt Snyder served as a Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Training Chief and Company Operation Chief.  During this assignment MGySgt Snyder completed two successful deployments with the MEU and OEF. During his tour he was promoted to Master Sergeant and his current rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant.

In June 2015, MGySgt Snyder received orders to his current unit 3^rd EOTG, 3^rd MEF, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. MGySgt Snyder current billet is SNCOIC.
