Our thanks go to the thousands of law enforcement and homeland security personnel who contributed to the security of the Republican National Convention, the Convention site, and the City of Cleveland this week. Today I visit Philadelphia to inspect the security for the Democratic National Convention that takes place next week.
Secretary Johnson Opens Doors to State-of-the-Art Forensic Laboratory
Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Deputy Director Dan Ragsdale and Virginia Congressman Rep. Gerry Connolly today unveiled a major renovation of the ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Forensic Laboratory in Tysons Corner, Virginia, to support the growing mission and capabilities of the one-of-a-kind lab.
Securing the RNC
In addition to inspecting convention security in Cleveland last Friday and Philadelphia later this week, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson receives daily intelligence and operational briefings from U.S. Secret Service Director Joe Clancy and his team, who are on the ground in Cleveland. DHS personnel apprise the Secretary of the latest developments concerning the security situation at both conventions.

Secretary Johnson Inspects Convention Security Operations in Cleveland
Today, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson traveled to Cleveland with U.S. Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator Peter Neffenger, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Executive Associate Director Peter Edge to review the operational security and contingency planning in preparation for next week’s 2016 Republican National Convention.
