Today, Secretary Johnson announced the new Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Grant Program to support community-led initiatives across the country to build resilience to the threat of violent extremism.

DHS Announces the Countering Violent Extremism Grant Program

On Wednesday, July 6, 2016, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson announced the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Grant Program, with $10 million in available funds. This is the first federal assistance program devoted exclusively to providing local communities with the resources to counter violent extremism in the homeland.

DHS Announces Funding Opportunity for Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 Preparedness Grants

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson today announced the release of Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 Notices of Funding Opportunity for ten DHS preparedness grant programs totaling more than $1.6 billion. The grant programs provide funding to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, as well as transportation authorities, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector, to improve the nation’s readiness in preventing, protecting against, responding to, recovering from and mitigating terrorist attacks, major disasters and other emergencies.
