Governor Tomblin Requests Federal Disaster Assistance

Governor Tomblin has requested disaster assistance for Braxton, Clay, Lincoln, Logan, Nicholas, Roane, Webster, and Wood counties to citizens in recovering from July 11-14, 2015, storms and flooding. Governor Tomblin sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency detailing from severe storms that caused flooding, landslides, mudslides, and wind damage in eight counties.

This disaster request marks the fifth disaster to strike West Virginia since March 2015. All previous declared disasters were approved for Public Assistance only. While this disaster did not result in any reported injuries or deaths, West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Jimmy Gianato expressed his thanks for the "dedication and hard work of first responders."
