To provide Joint, Inter-Service and Marine Corps unique training in the satellite communications field and to provide Subject Matter Experts (SME) in the technical and logistics evaluations of new satellite communication systems. The Detachment is responsible for the development of formal training in accordance with standard inter-service training standards and agreements in order to continue the transformation of initial entry Marines as well as follow-on training for Marines from the Operating Forces. As the senior Marine organization at Fort Gordon, the Detachment supports joint inter-service ceremonial functions at Fort Gordon and liaison for Marines transitioning through the Army Eisenhower Hospital Regional Medical Center.

From Atlanta (I-20): Take I-20 toward Augusta for 126 miles. Take exit 194 for GA-383/Belair Road toward Jimmy Dyess Parkway, turn right onto Jimmy Dyess Parkway. Drive 3.1 and proceed through Gate 1 of Cyber Center of Excellence Fort Gordon Georgia. Proceed straight on 4th Infantry Division Road/Chamberlain Ave, turn left on 26th Ave, proceed for .2 miles Marine Detachment is on the right, across from the mini Exchange and Burger King.

From Augusta Airport (Tobacco Road): Depart via North Entrance, turn left on Doug Barnard Parkway, take 1st right onto Tobacco Road, continue 8.5 miles and proceed through Gate 5 of Cyber Center of Excellence Fort Gordon Georgia. Continue on Avenue of the States, take 2nd exit in round-about to Rice Road, turn left onto Barnes Ave, turn right onto 26th Street. Marine Detachment is on the left, across from the mini Exchange and Burger King.

Transportation

From Atlanta International Airport: Contact Groome Transportation for pick up.

After claiming your baggage, follow the signs toward Ground Transportation / MARTA. Exit the terminal through Door W1 or W2 and follow the covered walkway across the taxi pick-up to the non-metro/shared ride area on the Green Row. Follow the signs in the Green Row for Groome Transportation pick up spaces. Ensure to get on the correct shuttle/van. Shuttle departs every 75 minutes starting at 0545 and ending at 0015.

From Augusta Regional Airport:

After claiming your baggage, follow the signs to ground transportation. Taxi cabs are standing by for transport to Fort Gordon. Fares to Fort Gordon are $18 for 1-2 people, each additional person is $8 with a $.50 charge for each piece of luggage.

Normal Working Hours

Monday - Friday

0730-1630

Student:

Reporting in during working hours: All student personnel reporting during normal working hours will check in with the Administrative Section located in Building 25707 in Service Alphas.

Reporting in during non-working hours: All student personnel reporting after normal working hours will check in with the Command Duty Officer or Duty Non-Commissioned Officer in Building 25707 in appropriate civilian attire. Student personnel will report to the Administrative Section in Building 25707 the next business day at 0730 in Service Alphas.

Permanent Personnel:

Reporting in during working hours: All permanent personnel reporting during normal working hours will check in with the Administrative Section located in Building 25707 in Service Alphas.

Reporting in during non-workign hours: All permanent personnel reporting after normal working hours will check in with the Command Duty Officer (CDO). CDO phone number is 706-399-1888. If billeting is required notfiy CDO upon calling in further instructions will be given at that time. All Permanent personnel will report to the Administrative Section in Service Alphas at 0730 the next business day.
