Cybersecurity Jobs

As technology becomes increasingly sophisticated, the demand for an experienced and qualified workforce to protect our nation’s networks and information systems will only continue to grow. Information security and cybersecurity are rapidly growing industries with increased workforce needs. There are currently over half a million job openings in America in information technology (IT) fields like cybersecurity. The average IT-related job typically earns salaries at least 50 percent higher than the average private sector job.

IT and cybersecurity jobs are not only for those with advanced degrees. The skills required for these jobs can often be acquired through other ways, such as community college, military service, or online training. Additionally, cybersecurity jobs are found in many different sectors all over the country, including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, financial services, and national security.

Helping more Americans train and connect to IT-related jobs is a key element of President Obama’s middle-class economics agenda. You can learn more about the President’s TechHire initiative here.

One of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) highest priorities is to acquire, grow, and sustain the most talented people in cybersecurity. Information on cybersecurity jobs at DHS can be found here.
