Next Generation Passenger Checkpoint Program

Aviation security continues to be a global priority, and developing systems that can identify ever changing threats is Travelers going through secuirty at the airporta universal goal. EXD is working with the Transportation Security Administration to develop the next generation of threat detection systems for screening passengers and carry-on luggage before they reach the plane.

The Next Generation Passenger Checkpoint Program identifies and supports efforts to develop technologies that will screen for a wider range of threats, while improving traveler experience. Ongoing work includes looking at ways of combining a variety of technologies that would allow passengers to have their carry-on baggage screened without having to remove laptops or liquids. Passengers would simply walk through the checkpoint screening systems without removing shoes, belts or other items of clothing.
