Foundational Elements of Cyber Systems

The only long-term solution to the vulnerabilities of today’s networking and information technologies is to ensure that future generations of these technologies are designed with security built in from the ground up. The Foundational Elements of Cyber Systems (FECS) Program focuses R&D activities on the characteristics essential to the desired end-states of trustworthy cyber systems. A system needs to have sound security requirements, and users need strong assurance that the system meets those requirements. This program will accelerate transition of new cybersecurity technologies into commercial products and services. End-users for these technologies include: first responders, critical infrastructure providers, the banking and finance sector, private industry, and government. The FECS Program carries out its activities through the following projects:
