Senior Pentagon officials approved the Strategic Plan for the Department of Defense
to train in a joint, networked environment that will mirror the spectrum of future
conflicts.
The Deputy Secretary of Defense issued a memorandum (included with the Strategic
Plan) for implementing the Strategic Plan for Transforming DoD Training. The Strategic
Plan for Transforming DoD describes the requirements and context of the transformation,
along with the vision, goals, and the roadmap to success.
Strategic Plan
The Training Transformation Implementation Plan describes why Training Transformation
is vital to joint force readiness and guides the development of capabilities for
transforming future joint operations. The Implementation Plan has three Appendices.
Appendix 1 addresses the actions identified in the Strategic Plan for Transforming
DoD Training. It also provides specific details and milestones for outlining how
and when actions are accomplished and specifies organizational responsibility for
these actions. Appendix 2 explains the abbreviations. Appendix 3 describes the Planning
& Resource Management Process. Appendix 4 provides definitions for terms used in
the Implementation Plan. The Training Transformation Implementation Plan will be
revised periodically to remain aligned with evolving assumptions, developments,
and requirements.
