Site Sergeant Major Sergeant Major Shawn M. Isaacson
Sergeant Major Isaacson is a native of Denver, Colorado. He enlisted in November of 1991 out of Salt Lake City, Utah and attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, CA. After graduation, he attended Marine Combat Training and was subsequently transferred to Camp Del Mar, Camp Pendleton, CA. for MOS school where he was assigned the MOS of 1833, Assault Amphibious Vehicle Crewman.

Upon completion of school, LCpl Isaacson received orders to Alpha Co, 2nd Assault Amphibious Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC. During this tour he was transferred to and deployed with Delta Co. with the 22nd MEU. While deployed he participated in Operations Provide Hope and Provide Promise in Yugoslavia and later deployed to Somalia. While with the 22nd MEU he was promoted to the rank of Corporal.

In November of 1993, Cpl Isaacson received orders to Amphibious Assault School, Camp Pendleton, CA. where he served as a Crew Chief/Instructor. During his tenure with the battalion he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and subsequently held the billets of Platform Instructor and Curriculum Developer. In June of 1998 he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and was reassigned to the billet of Platoon Sergeant.

Upon completion of his tour with Amphibious Assault School, SSgt Isaacson received orders to Bravo Co. 3rd Assault Amphibious Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, CA. In July 2000 he deployed UDP to Okinawa, Japan. While deployed to Okinawa, he served with the 31st MEU, participating in operation UFL in Korea as well as numerous other exercises. Upon return to CONUS, SSgt Isaacson attended the Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Career Course at Camp Pendleton, CA.



In September of 2001, SSgt Isaacson received orders to Marine Security Guard School. Upon graduation, he was assigned as the Detachment Commander of Marine Security Guard Detachment, Muscat, Oman. It was during this tour that he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. GySgt Isaacson received orders to Budapest, Hungary in May of 2003 for his second post.

In December of 2004, GySgt Isaacson returned to Bravo Company, 3rd AA Bn., 1st MarDiv. During this tour he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom IV where he was an AAV Platoon Sergeant supporting RCT-2. Upon returning to CONUS, GySgt Isaacson attended the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Advanced Course at Camp Pendleton, CA.

In January of 2007, GySgt Isaacson was selected to First Sergeant and was subsequently assigned to Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment as the Battery 1stSgt. He once again deployed to Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.2. Upon returning from the 10 month deployment 1stSgt Isaacson was then assigned to Region 5, (Western Europe and Scandinavia) Marine Corps Embassy Security Group stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. 1stSgt Isaacson attended the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, Rhode Island. In November of 2010 he was selected to his current rank of Sergeant Major.

In May, 2011 SgtMaj Isaacson assumed the duties as the Sergeant Major for Marine Wing Communication Squadron 38, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing. In July 2014 SgtMaj Isaacson was assigned as the Sergeant Major for Marine Aircraft Logistics Squadron–11 and subsequently assigned as the Site SgtMaj for MACG-48 in Great Lakes, IL in Jan of 2015.

SgtMaj Isaacson’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal w gold star in lieu of 2nd Award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with “V” device and 3 gold stars in lieu of 4rd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of 2nd award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
