Project detail
Roadmap/Focus area(s):   Infrastructure Research and Technology Strategic Plan and Roadmap
Project Description:   Assess the feasibility of and demonstrate the use of Traffic Speed Deflectometer (TSD) for network-level pavement structural evaluation for use in the participating agencies pavement management application and decisionmaking.
Goals:
The objectives of this effort are to:

(1) Demonstrate the use of Traffic Speed Deflectometer (TSD) for network-level pavement structural evaluation for use in the participating State agencies’ pavement management application and decision making.
(2) Assess the analysis methodologies and processes for incorporating pavement structural information with State highway agency (SHA) pavement management applications, including evaluation and validation of the devices leading to them, developed under Federal  Highway Administration (FHWA) research project “Pavement Structural Evaluation at the Network Level.”
(3) Conduct exploratory analysis to demonstrate the use of pavement structural condition information derived from TSD through the analysis methodologies and processes developed in FHWA research project “Pavement Structural Evaluation at the Network Level” for use in the participating state’s pavement management system and applications.
Field Test:   Traffic Speed Deflectometer (TSD) field data collection on participating State highway agency (SHA) designated pavement sections.
Product Type:   Technical report
Test Methodology:   Theoretical analyses, mechanistic-empirical modeling
Expected Benefits:   The expected benefit is network-level pavement structural evaluation at traffic speed that State highway agencies (SHAs) can incorporate in their pavement management activities for better decisionmaking.
Deliverables: Name: Final report documenting the entire effort and individual report documenting data collection, analysis, and recommendation for each participating State highway agency.
Product Type(s): Technical report
Description: Final report
