Project detail | ||
Project Description: | The Contractor shall recruit 64 participants to conduct the data collection for the driving portion of work zone driver behavior study being conducted in the Saxton Transportation Operations Lab.
Goals: |
(1) Recruit 64 participants.
(2)
Conduct experiment with 64 participants.
(3) Develop Tool for Data Analysis.
|
|
Background Information: | There is a lot of current research that focuses on work zone safety and mobility but there has been little that focuses on the driver behavior that is specific for simulation parameters. Some of these parameters used in simulation could be car-following, lane-changing, merging, etc. These are very important factors that can impact the work zone capacity modeling. Without adequate calibration and understanding of these parameters specific to work zones, simulation results may not be accurate.
Field Test: | Instrumented Research Vehicle will be driven through a Work Zone Living Laboratory.
Product Type: | Data Research report
Test Methodology: | The use of an Instrumented Research Vehicle to collect real-time driver behavior data.
Partners: | Federal Highway Administration: Office of Research, Development, and Technology - Office of Safety Research and Development; Role(s): Advisory, Technical
