Roadmap/Focus area(s): | Infrastructure Research and Technology Strategic Plan and Roadmap
Project Description: | This project seeks to deliver the ability to utilize the Asphalt Mixture Performance Tester (AMPT) to measure in-place, as-constructed dynamic modulus and fatigue characteristics of pavement layers when lift thickness does not allow the full-size geometry to be obtained from construction.
Goals: |
(1) To determine the similarity of cyclic fatigue properties of 38- millimeter (mm) diameter specimens as compared to 100-mm diameter specimens in the Asphalt Mixture Performance Tester (AMPT).
(2) To determine the suitability of rapid simplified monotonic test protocol to capture same or similar fatigue characterization as cyclic fatigue in the Asphalt Mixture Performance Tester (AMPT).
