Biography

CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT JULIET C. GUDGEL

Chief Master Sergeant Juliet C. Gudgel is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 59th Medical Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. She is the principle advisor to the wing commander and wing executive staff on matters concerning the morale, welfare, development, utilization and training of over 1,800 enlisted members for the Air Force's largest medical wing. The wing's mission is to provide deployed and home station health care, graduate medical education, and clinical research, all designed to enhance Air Force readiness. The medical wing is composed of seven groups based at three geographically separated bases with a staff of 8,000 military, civilian, contract employees, residents and students. She provides advice to the director of the San Antonio Military Health System which includes a $1.2 billion budget providing health care for more than 240,000 beneficiaries in 11 medical treatment facilities in the San Antonio metropolitan area.

Chief Gudgel was born and raised in Indiana and entered the Air Force in 1992. She has served in many challenging roles such as squadron superintendent, flight superintendent, technical school instructor, career assistance advisor, supply chain management action officer and Air Force Materiel Command's Materiel Management functional manager. Before assuming her current position, she served as the commandant, Airey Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. She has deployed in support of Operation Northern Watch, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.
