South Carolina Automobile Liability Insurance Reporting System
South Carolina Automobile Liability Insurance Reporting System

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) implemented the Automobile Liability Insurance Reporting (ALIR) System in March 2004. The ALIR System collects automobile liability insurance information from insurers that are licensed to provide automobile liability insurance in the state.  SCDMV cross-references the collected information to South Carolina driver and vehicle data to identify registered vehicles that do not meet the minimum automotive liability insurance requirements of the state. This system is available to South Carolina licensed Insurance Companies, Agents and Agencies.

Insurance Companies, Agents and Agencies can verify a customer’s insurance information in real-time using the SC ALIR website.  Verification is required following the receipt of an FR4 Cancellation Notice, FR31 Verification Request, or an accident. Additionally, SR22 filings can be submitted in real-time using the ALIR website. Insurance Companies and Agents can register to use the ALIR system, verify insurance electronically, and access helpful documentation on the ALIR Website (https://www.sc-alir.com).
