Automobile Driver Training School Regulations

The Department has established minimum standards for the operation of driver training schools.  The purpose of these regulations is to develop knowledge and teaching skills of Traffic Safety Education to beginning drivers as well as the mature driver.  Under Section 56-23-10, "A person may not engage in the business of training or educating persons to drive or operate motor vehicles…for which a fee or charge is made…unless the person has obtained and holds a valid driver training school license issued by the Department."  These regulations outline the standards for opening a driving school in the State of South Carolina.
