This award recognizes five outstanding young volunteers, ages 5 to 18, who demonstrate that you are never too young to make a d...ifference in your local or global community. Awardees will be celebrated for their extraordinary commitment to service at a special recognition event in New York City and will receive a $1,000 educational scholarship.

      I can honestly say that it was the most wonderful years of my life. My first assignment was a park in Fairview Heights, IL. A part of me is still there at that park. I worked for 1 1/2 years running a computer center for a Grade School in Belleville, Il, I rfterschool program and ran their summer camp for 2 years. I really hated to leave my kids. I hated leaving AmeriCorp. My daughter had gone to that school 5 years before, it was great giving back to our old community.
