The Port of Hood River will carry out multiple lifts of the Hood River/White Salmon Interstate Bridge lift span throughout the daylight hours of October 27-29. The trunnions are critical mechanical systems of the bridge's lift span, with four located on each of the two bridge towers. The magnetic particle testing is required to determine their condition and expected longevity of key components. Engineers will carry out at least eight (8) bridge lifts over those three days. Each lift will require closure of both lanes on the bridge up to 30 minutes in duration. Closures will occur between the hours of 7:00am and 4:00pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 27-29. Bridge users are strongly encouraged to plan for up to 40 minute delays or seek alternate routes during those hours.

Lanes Affected: (Northbound) Median , 1 Lane (Southbound) Median , 1 Lane
Comments: For the week of October 24th, expect alternating lane closures while the contractor installs rumble strips and signs. Expect delays. The Romaine Village to Lava Butte Project includes shoulder widening and installation of median barrier. Work will be performed during the day; motorists can expect delays of less than 20 minutes through the work zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 50 MPH both Northbound and Southbound in the north end of the work zone. Starting in August, paving will be performed at night from 7pm to 7am, with one lane of traffic in each direction. Drivers can expect minimal delays during paving operations. When completed, the $6 million project will have widened the highway and installed a new concrete median safety barrier, extending the current barrier from Lava Butte to the south City of Bend city limits. (There will be a gap in the barrier permitting traffic to enter the High Desert Museum.) Once completed, the median barrier will reduce serious cross-over crashes. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October. The Northbound fast lane will also be closed as planned from 6/30-7/1.
