In Manitoba, generally speaking, highways under the control of the Minister of Infrastructure & Transportation are classified as either RTAC routes, Class "A1" or Class" B1" highways.

Each class of highway has its own specific axle loading and gross vehicle weight limits which can be found in Schedule H of the Vehicle Weights and Dimensions on Classes of Highways Regulation (M.R. 575/88).

RTAC routes are listed below (Part 1). Class A1 highways are any Provincial Trunk Highway numbered from 1 to 110 that does not appear in Part 1. Class B1 highways have number designations higher than 110. However, some B1 highways have been upgraded to RTAC loading. They are listed in Part 1. Some B1 highways have also been upgraded to A1 loading. They are listed in Part 2.

* denotes a road that has either in whole or in part been upgraded to a higher classification since the last amendment of MR 575/88. In order to haul weights at the higher classification, it is necessary to obtain a copy of the latest letter permit for these roads. This is available free of charge by calling Permit Services at (204) 945-3961.
