As a student we offer you a structured Co-Operative Development program (an individual multi-phased development plan based on your prior experience and development) where we provide you with training and a variety of work experiences to support and develop your goals of working towards a full-filling career.
Students are not limited to just one job throughout the duration of their employment generally with Regional Operations. Individuals are able to get their feet wet in various job functions related to highway construction in the department and the opportunity to see different areas of the province.

Student Tracking Program
The MIT Training and Development team meet with the students 3 times per work term to see how the student is progressing and identify other areas of interest. These meetings occur at the beginning primarily to gather previous experience, set goals for current work term, and discuss future plans for school and permanent placement. Another meeting occurs midway through the work term. This meeting is set up to add & document experience, get feedback from student & supervisor, and identify any areas that need to be addressed. There is one more meeting at the end of the work term to document all experiences from the term, get written feedback from student & supervisor, and discuss plans for next work term/employment.
