Joint Ordnance Commander's Group (JOCG), HERO Subgroup

The primary means by which the Joint Spectrum Center (JSC) coordinates the development of Hazards of Radiation to Ordnance (HERO) policy, procedures, and tools is through leadership of the HERO Subgroup of the Joint Ordnance Commander's Group (JOCG). The JOCG tasked the HERO subgroup to:

Review and coordinate technological advances in the characterization and standardization of:

• Electrically Initiated Devices (EIDs)
• Develop Joint Service HERO test methodology
• Coordinate and negotiate with other services' HERO implementation

The HERO subgroup is composed of HERO experts from all services. Current topics under consideration by this group include:

• Standardization of the Services HERO policies and procedures
• HERO implications on the use of Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) systems
• HERO requirements and Test Standardization
• Recommended changes to MIL-STD-464 and MIL-HDBK-240 HERO platform and test requirements
• Recommendations on the functionality and service use of JOERAD software
• Update and maintenance of the MAE software calculation tool
• JOCG executive committee meeting and action
