Community Outreach
Community Affairs sponsors conferences, roundtable discussions, telephone seminars, and workshops for the exchange of information and ideas, among lenders, community groups, and government officials. Our involvement in community outreach activities allows us to give back to our communities and to better understand their needs and concerns. We also observe how government policies and private investment work to revitalize neighborhoods, build businesses, and improve lifestyles for many. We invite you to share in our community outreach experience, by viewing the links and photos on this page. Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. OCC staff members promote community development by participating in the following events with communities throughout the United States: - NeighborWorks Week
NeighborWorks America (NWA) was founded by Congress in the 1970s to create opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives, and strengthen their communities, In recognition of that mission, NWA celebrates NeighborWorks Week each year in June. As part of that celebration, NWA’s 235 network organizations participate in events to beautify neighborhoods and enhance affordable housing developments. In each participating community, local residents join business leaders, bankers, government officials, and volunteers to support these efforts. In Washington, OCC headquarters volunteers join other NWA Board members and staff to help landscape and beautify affordable housing located in the District of Columbia.
