Disaster Relief Items in designated isles in big box stores

In an emergency, knowing what to do is your best defense. In my state of Pennsylvania we have a state sponsored website called readypa.org which helps people with learning the risks, making an emergency plan and getting involved to help others. I assume every state has a "Ready" site that citizens can assess to gather information about how to prepare for an emergency, be it manmade or natural.

The task and expense of preparing a disaster relief kit to accommodate everyone in the family, and knowing where to go in case of an emergency, as well as taking into consideration accommodating disabled or elderly citizens, where to go if you have pets, etc. can be challenging.

I propose that gradually each big box store LOWES and Home Depot, as well as Target and Walmart, have a dedicated isle/area where everything can be obtained. Each store's area- no matter who's store it is; Lowes, Home Depot, Target or Walmart- should all have uniform isles with the states "ready" logo decorating the banners on the shelving. These isles would also contain brochures and pamphlets that each state could post for print out from their websites.

These stores have buying power and together they should be able to purchase these goods to be sold in their stores reasonably inexpensive. Each state and all stores should be working together. The manufacturers of these goods should discount wholesale for this cause. Lowes and Home Depot regularly do informative workshops and can help here too. This is a good way to make people aware and get the goods into everyone's hands. Gradually so as not to scare.
