Highest Honor for Emergency Management Awarded to Eleven Programs

 

Savannah, Ga. – Congratulations to the following Emergency Management Programs that have earned accreditation by the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP): Amtrak; Brevard County, Fla.; Broward County, Fla.; Charlotte County, Fla.; Guilford County, NC.; Palm Beach County, Fla.; Rock Island District, USACE; University of Central Florida; and Wisconsin. In addition, Iowa and the New Jersey have achieved reaccreditation.

 “Congratulations to those programs that have maintained their accredited status as well as those who have joined the elite leaders in emergency management having earned accreditation through the Emergency Management Accreditation Program. Through their commitment and leadership, they have proven to their communities and stakeholders that their programs are sustainable and that they continue to focus on their communities’ best interests,” stated Robie Robinson, Executive Director of Public Safety, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and the EMAP Commission Chair.

Highest Honor for Emergency Management Awarded to the First Private Sector Entity

Savannah, Ga. – Amtrak made history this week as the first Private Sector Entity to ever earn Emergency Management Programs accreditation by the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). The Amtrak Emergency Management and Corporate Security (EMCS) department manages Amtrak’s security and preparedness program to help protect passengers, employees, and assets throughout the rail system.

“Congratulations to Amtrak for achieving this significant accomplishment in emergency management by earning accreditation. Through their commitment and leadership, they have demonstrated to their employees, passengers and stakeholders their program is sustainable, and safety and security are a top priority.” stated Robie Robinson, Executive Director of Public Safety, University of TennesseeChattanooga and the EMAP Commission Chair.
