• Public meetings, workshops, comment periods, Federal Register Notices
  EPA provides opportunities for the public to provide scientific input on assessment materials at all IRIS-sponsored public meetings and workshops. At IRIS public events, EPA supports participation in open discussions through in-person attendance, by webinar, and by teleconference.
  
  EPA also encourages the public to provide written comments on IRIS Program materials. The release of materials for public comment is announced on the IRIS Program website, via the IRIS bulletin, and in the HHRA bulletin.
   
• Dockets for assessments in development
  Through the Federal government docket (regulations.gov), EPA opens a new docket for every IRIS assessment in development. EPA accepts public comments on IRIS assessment materials submitted to the docket through the life of assessment development. Links to the dockets are provided in the calendar from the public science meetings (when applicable) and on the chemical-specific web pages for assessments in development. For most assessments, public comment periods are open for approximately two months following the announcement of a new draft report.
   
• Docket for general comments on the IRIS Program
  Also through the Federal government docket (regulations.gov), EPA offers a "General Comments Docket.” The public can use this docket to provide:
  -- feedback that has broad applicability to the IRIS Program, and
  -- comments on general scientific issues that apply to all assessments.
  
  EPA asks commenters to provide contact information in their docket submissions to promote an open dialogue on issues.
   

• IRIS Science Blogs
  EPA uses blogs to promote science discussions with the public on various topics related to the IRIS Program. Blog topics might include:
  -- questions or issues up for discussion at upcoming meetings/events, and
  -- issues relating more broadly to public health protection.

  Receive notifications like IRIS News Blasts by subscribing to the IRIS bulletin.
   
• Subscribe to the HHRA Bulletin
  Receive monthly bulletin updates by registering for the HHRA News and Events Bulletin. IRIS is a major theme under the human health risk assessment (HHRA) research program. For members of the public who like to tweet, follow IRIS on the EPA Research Twitter account.
   
• Contact the IRIS Hotline
  Notice something on the website or have a question that you need help with? Contact the IRIS Hotline by telephone, fax, email, or mail for assistance.
