Modular Open Systems Approaches

Modular Open Systems Approaches, formerly known as Open Systems Architecture or Open Systems Approach, is a continuation and expansion of past work in the area of modular design, open architectures, and supporting business processes. The intent of the revision to this site, and the expansion of the MOSA concept, is to:

• remind the MOSA concept users and implementers that there are many aspects to properly instantiating MOSA for the benefit of DoD;
• provide pointers to the latest in policy, guidance, and research covering those various aspects, from an overarching and agency/service specific viewpoint;
• ensure that information is current and accurate, with an understood viewpoint; and
• provide a single source for the current body-of-practice (today), as well as a planned body-of-work to be accomplished.
