Project detail
Roadmap/Focus area(s):   Infrastructure Research and Technology Strategic Plan and Roadmap
Project Description:   Development of performance indicators and health indices and a conglomerate index that will correspond to the most critical of the Bridge Performance Measures at system level.
Goals:
Establish National Performance Indicators and Performance Health Index for various populations of bridges at system level.

Background Information:   There are a number of shortfalls in the current bridge health index, which namely relies on the weighted average of the conditions of bridge elements obtained from the element-level inspection and overlooks the influence of materials, loads, and environment. In addition, it is too simplistic and provides an index simple in the serviceability limit States only.
