Project detail
Roadmap/Focus area(s):   Infrastructure Research and Technology Strategic Plan and Roadmap
Project Description:   Traditional pavement analysis methods are intended for repeated loading and accumulated fatigue damage based primarily on strain response. However, permit request for one-time movement of superload and analysis should ideally be based on strength analysis and risk of instantaneous failure. Analysis methods and tools will be developed to conduct factor of safety analysis based on load demand and strength of pavement and subsurface materials.
Goals:
Develop analysis methods and tools to conduct factor of safety analysis based on load demand and strength of pavement and subsurface materials.
Product Type:   Research report
Software
Test Methodology:   Develop analysis methods and tools to conduct a factor of safety analysis based on load demand and strength of pavement and subsurface materials.
Expected Benefits:   Analysis method and tool that State and local highway agencies can use for evaluating pavement structural behavior under movement of superloads.
Deliverables: Name: Final report documenting the research effort and analysis methodology, the tool implementing the analysis methodology, and user documentation.
Product Type(s): Research report, Software
Description: Final report documenting the research effort and analysis methodology, the tool implementing the analysis methodology, and user documentation.
