Project detail
Roadmap/Focus area(s):   Infrastructure Research and Technology Strategic Plan and Roadmap
Project Description:   This project will develop a state-of-the-art report relevant to the use of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) in the United States highway transportation sector.
Goals:   The objective of this project is to document state-of-the-art (regarding the research, development, and deployment) Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) components within the U.S. highway transportation infrastructure. The project will look at what has been done previously and what needs to be done in order to achieve appropriate application of UHPC in this segment of the U.S. infrastructure. Given that (1) the broad range of topics currently under consideration for the use of UHPC, (2) the history of cross-pollination between separate but related application areas as new cementitious composites are developed, and (3) the wide range of topics applicable to bridge engineering, it is expected that the deliverables from this project will document far more than the work solely completed within the U.S. highway sector.
Product Type:   Technical report
Test Methodology:   Desk study to compile relevant information into an appropriate format for broad dissemination.
Expected Benefits:   This research will facilitate the use of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) within the U.S. highway infrastructure. It will play an instrumental role in the development of structural design specifications for UHPC in the United States.
Deliverables: Name: Ultra-High Performance Concrete: A State-of-the-Art Report for the Bridge Community
Product Type(s): Technical report
Description: State-of-the-Art Report broadly covering Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) including material properties, structural performance, applications, and deployments. Includes more than 300 references and a bibliography with more than 600 items.
