Project detail
Project Description:   The objective of this exploratory research project is to push the boundary of the known research on survey methods to determine if significant gains in survey estimates can be achieved through the use of innovative techniques. More specifically, to address questions such as:  Can significant improvements be incurred in response rates through the adoption of advanced technology for capturing detailed survey information? Does new technology reduce or increase respondent burden when combined with other methods? What impact on estimates of long-distance travel (i.e., variability of survey estimates) would be incurred through the use of new techniques?
Goals:   The key project objective is to develop foundational research for a national, multimodal passenger transportation demand model.
Test Methodology:   Survey and statistical methods
Expected Benefits:   The expected benefit is the reduction of cost and increased effectiveness of national passenger travel surveying and forecasting.
