Project detail | ||
Roadmap/Focus area(s): | Safety Planning
Project Description: | The project proposes to study the human factors aspects of limited automated driving systems. It will address the concerns of drivers becoming overly reliant upon such systems, drivers evoking such systems outside of design parameters, and drivers being aware when the systems are not operating as intended.
Goals: |
(1) Improve basic understanding of human factors.
(2) Engage drivers.
|
|
Background Information: | The project was submitted in response to first round (fiscal year 2007) Exploratory Advanced Research Program solicitation.

Test Methodology: | Laboratory and field tests.
Expected Benefits: | Greater understanding of the impact of human factors on the performance of automated systems and better definition of the roles of drivers using such systems in a variety of scenarios.
