Roadmap/Focus area(s): | Pedestrians and Bicyclists
Project Description: | This research will involve the selection of appropriate engineering countermeasures for study, development of an evaluation plan, collection of before and after installation data, and statistical analysis to assess safety effectiveness of pedestrian safety countermeasures at midblock crossing locations.
Goals: |
The key project objectives are to:
(1) Identify information related to midblock pedestrian safety problems.
(2) Identify potential midblock safety treatments or combinations of treatments that may reduce pedestrian fatalities and injuries at midblock crossing locations.
(3) Evaluate selected countermeasures for pedestrians at midblock crossing locations.
