Readout of Deputy Secretary Mayorkas’ Trip to France

PARIS — Today, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas attended an International Ministerial meeting with Attorney General Eric Holder in Paris convened by French Minister of Interior Bernard Cazeneuve, to discuss a range of shared security-related priorities, including counterterrorism efforts, foreign fighters, and countering violent extremism in the aftermath of the tragic terrorist incidents in Paris last week. While in Paris, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas also met with French Prime Minister Manuel Valls and French President François Hollande.

On Jan. 11, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas will travel to Paris to attend an International Ministerial meeting, convened by French Minister of Interior Bernard Cazeneuve, to discuss a range of shared security-related priorities, including counterterrorism efforts, foreign fighters, and countering violent extremism in the aftermath of the tragic terrorist incidents in Paris this week.

USCIS and the Smithsonian Institution Launch Preparing for the Oath

This morning, against the backdrop of the original Star-Spangled Banner, I had the privilege of participating in a naturalization ceremony at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History. My colleagues and I, along with hundreds of visitors to the museum, were honored to welcome America’s newest citizens and congratulate them as they begin their lives as U.S. citizens.
