Interactive Highway Safety Design Model (IHSDM): Training Course

Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA’s) National Highway Institute (NHI)  offers a two-day, onsite IHSDM Training Course (Course Number FHWA-NHI-380071). The course includes classroom presentations and discussions as well as hands-on exercises in using IHSDM. Upon completion of the course, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe key capabilities and limitations of IHSDM.
  • Evaluate a highway using the IHSDM software.
  • Recognize when and how IHSDM can be used during the project development process.

The NHI also offers “Using IHSDM” – a Web-based, instructor-led version of the IHSDM Training Course (Course Number FHWA-NHI-380100). This format consists of four 2-hour sessions of virtual, instructor-led trainings (known as Web-Conference Training), and additional self-paced activities.

For additional information, including how to host a course and enroll in a scheduled session, refer to the National Highway Institute Web site at http://www.nhi.fhwa.dot.gov/default.aspx.
