Welcome
The Homeland Security University Programs Network was established in 2006 to provide an online forum for members of the extended Department of Homeland Security (DHS) University Programs community. The community welcomes visitors to learn about the University Programs Network's research and education initiatives and accomplishments by visiting the Centers, Workforce Development Initiatives, and Minority Serving Institutions tabs.
Sponsored by the DHS Office of University Programs, the Centers of Excellence (COE), each focused on a unique homeland security need, perform research and development activities to provide critical tools, technologies, training, and expertise to the homeland security community. The COEs work closely with academia, industry, DHS components, and first-responders to develop customer-driven solutions to "on-the-ground" challenges and provide essential training to the next generation of homeland security experts.
The COE network is an extended consortium of hundreds of universities generating ground-breaking ideas for new technologies and critical knowledge. The research portfolio is a mix of basic and applied research addressing both short- and long-term needs. The COE extended network is also available for rapid response efforts.
