Inquiry Routing and Information System (IRIS)

Program Description

The Inquiry Routing and Information System (IRIS) is a web-based inquiry tool found under "Contact Us" located on each page of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) website. You may get information about your own VA benefits claims as well as general information about the VA and any of the its other benefits programs.

IRIS may also be used to submit compliments, complaints, and suggestions.

Use any of these options on the site to get information:

  • Veterans Crisis Hotline
  • My HealtheVet
  • Locations (Find a VA Facility)
  • Toll Free Telephone Numbers for contacting VA
  • Education Benefits
  • eBenefits Portal
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • Paperwork Reduction Act Notice

Application Process

There is no application process to access IRIS. You must use the form under Ask a Question to ask questions.

You can get help in one of the following ways:

  • Click Frequently Asked Questions.
    1. Enter “problems with the website,” or any other phrase, in the Find the answer to your question search box to get a list of possible answers.
    2. Click on any of the links in the list to see the answers.
  • Click Ask a Question.
    1. Enter your question in the Question box.
    2. Click the Please Select a Topic drop-down under the Topic, Sub-topic, and Inquiry Type section.
    3. Select All Technical, Password and Access Probs or one of its sub-topics from the list.
    4. Fill in the rest of the form as required, then click the Submit button to send your question.
