Secretary Johnson Presents Awards for Valor

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh C. Johnson today presented the 2016 Department of Homeland Security Secretary’s Award for Valor to 13 outstanding individuals who have displayed exceptional valor while serving the Department, or while off-duty acting only as a concerned citizen willing to help those in need. 

Three DHS Officials Named Finalists for 2016 Service to America Medals

Three employees at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have been named finalists for the 2016 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals, known as the Sammies: Tate Jarrow, U.S. Secret Service; Mariela Melero, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS); and Ajay Bhatt, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Nine DHS Employees Receive the 2015 Presidential Rank Award

WASHINGTON – Today, the White House Office of Management and Budget and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management announced the 2015 Presidential Rank Award recipients, recognizing and celebrating some of the federal government’s top career executives and senior professionals for consistently demonstrating strength, integrity, and commitment to public service. The Presidential Rank Award is bestowed each year by the President upon a small group of career employees and is the nation’s highest civil service award.

Secretary Johnson Presents DHS Secretary's Awards To Department Employees

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, joined by Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and Department of Homeland Security component leadership, today presented the DHS Secretary’s Award to 329 DHS employees from across the country for their extraordinary service and outstanding contributions to the Department and the Nation. Secretary Johnson resumed these awards last year to appropriately recognize the achievements and selfless service of DHS personnel who preserve our freedoms and protect the homeland with integrity, vigilance, and respect.

Secretary Johnson Presents DHS Employees With Chief Medical Officer Life Saving Award

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson today presented three Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees with the Chief Medical Officer Life Saving Award, which recognizes Department personnel who have taken action in order to save a life. Secretary Johnson was joined at the ceremony by Assistant Secretary for Health Affairs and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kathryn Brinsfield to honor U.S. Secret Service Officers Daniel Martz and Fernandez Blackshear and U.S. Coast Guard Health Services Technician First Class (HS1) Jonathan Edwards.

DHS Recognizes Innovators at Patent Award Ceremony

WASHINGTON – Today, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas recognized Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees and other individuals who have been awarded patents by the U.S. Patent Office for their technology advancements and inventions contributing to the homeland security mission. The event, hosted by the DHS Science and Technology Directorate (S&T), recognized inventors from across DHS including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Coast Guard, and the Office of the General Counsel.

U.S. Government Information Security Leadership Awards Recognize DHS Cybersecurity Efforts

A U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee along with one of our valued partners have been named as recipients of 2015 International Information System Security Certification Consortium, Inc. (ISC)² U.S. Government Information Security Leadership Awards (GISLA). These prestigious awards, presented annually by the ISC², recognize individuals and teams whose initiatives, processes, and projects have significantly improved the security posture of their federal, state, or local department or agency or the Federal Government as a whole.
